About Lyn Harris

Lyn Harris is the British perfumer behind the London house Perfumer H. She is known for rebuilding nature as a memory of place, season, light, and air rather than presenting a literal catalogue of plants.

Career

Raised between Scotland and Yorkshire, Harris studied in Paris and Grasse and developed her craft at the fragrance house Robertet. She co-founded Miller Harris in 2000, establishing a distinct voice in British independent perfumery. After leaving the company in 2013, she opened Perfumer H in London in 2015 as a more personal laboratory and house.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Harris lets the character of materials remain legible while shaping them into quiet, contemporary landscapes. Bitterness, humidity, light, and distance from the skin often matter more than dramatic narrative effects. Her collaborations with glassmaker Michael Ruh and traditional makers of incense and other home fragrance formats show an interest in scent as a lived culture extending beyond the bottle.

Signature Works

  • *L'Air de Rien* — a Miller Harris landmark linking skin, intimacy, and memory.
  • *Ink* — a dry urban woody composition recalling ink and paper.
  • *Moss* — a modern fougère that opens bitter citrus, conifers, and moss to the light of dawn.
