A French perfumer renowned for bringing a profound musical sensibility to the art of fragrance creation. Originally set on a path to become a professional pianist, he ultimately found his calling in the world of perfumery. He is widely celebrated for his highly successful tenure at Takasago and his influential role as the in-house perfumer for the historic French house of CARON.

Career

Jacques' journey into fragrance began uniquely; while studying biochemistry and practicing music, a friend's recommendation led him to discover the prestigious ISIPCA perfumery school in Versailles. He honed his craft early on under the mentorship of master perfumer Pierre Bourdon. Jacques then spent 22 prolific years at the Japanese fragrance house Takasago, creating numerous mainstream and niche successes. In 2019, he took on the prestigious role of exclusive in-house perfumer for CARON, leading the house's creative revival until 2024, after which he transitioned to join the fragrance team at Chanel.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Jacques firmly believes that "music and perfumes speak the same language of notes," allowing him to seamlessly translate his background as a pianist into olfactory harmony. His compositional approach focuses on creating rhythms and accords that resonate much like a well-orchestrated musical piece. His creations are characterized by the lavish use of high-quality natural materials, achieving a sophisticated balance between classical depth and a radiant, contemporary lightness.
