About Guy Robert
Guy Robert was a twentieth-century French perfumer as well as an educator and writer who helped transmit technical knowledge. He treated fragrance not only as fashion but as a memory of materials, structure, and culture, working on both creation and preservation.
Career
Robert began in fragrance laboratories in Grasse and created fine fragrance for several houses. Through teaching and writing, he shared a vocabulary and standards of judgment with younger perfumers. In 1990 he joined Jean Kerléo and other experienced perfumers in the founding team of the Osmothèque, helping preserve endangered formulas and olfactory heritage.
Creative Style & Philosophy
His classical skill set the light of aldehydes, the volume of flowers, and the shadow of woods and moss into line and proportion, much like tailoring.
