Career
After studying chemistry, Flavigny attended ISIPCA from 1998 to 2000 and continued at the Givaudan Perfumery School until 2003. At twenty-seven he joined Givaudan Paris's fine-fragrance team, developing his practice while working with Antoine Lie. Scientific understanding grew alongside the ability to translate an abstract brand brief into sensory form.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Drawing on piano and jazz, he arranges materials like melody and accompaniment, harmony and counterpoint. Naturals bring complexity and productive irregularity; synthetics can introduce unfamiliar texture, clarity, and persistence. More is not automatically better. Materials change roles through time while the composition maintains one emotional line to the drydown.
