Cécile Matton is a French perfumer at MANE, celebrated for her dual passion for fragrances and jewelry, earning her the nickname "the Jeweller Perfumer." In 2018, she was named Perfumer of the Year by the editors of Cosmétique Mag. Born in Paris but raised in Zaïre, her childhood in Africa, where intense heat amplified scents, awakened her olfactory senses. She later studied pharmacy in Paris before pursuing perfumery at Givaudan's school.

Career

Matton began her career at Givaudan, creating her first fine fragrances, then worked at IFF in New York for several years. In 2007, she joined MANE, where she has created memorable fragrances for international brands such as Emporio Armani, Viktor & Rolf, Diptyque, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Pomellato, and Thierry Mugler. Her work at MANE aligns with her values of protecting people and the planet through conscious sourcing.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Matton describes herself as "an artisan more than an artist," preferring to work with materials in a concrete way. Whether flowers, woods, metal, or stone, the pure creation process is what matters most to her. Her style is contemporary, spontaneous, sparkling, and joyful, reflecting a bohemian spirit.

• *37 Rue de Bellechasse (Yves Saint Laurent, 2017)* — A dry woody amber of iris, incense, oud, benzoin, and musk, composed to evoke the solemn atmosphere of Saint Laurent's former headquarters.
• *Stronger With You (Emporio Armani, 2017)* — A modern aromatic gourmand that connects bright cardamom and pink pepper with sage and a warm, sweet chestnut-and-vanilla trail.
• *Bonbon (Viktor & Rolf, 2014)* — Co-created with Serge Majoullier, this floral gourmand wraps sparkling mandarin and orange blossom in a caramel accord that runs through to the ambered woods.
