About Alia Raza

Alia Raza is the founder of Régime des Fleurs, where her work encompasses perfumery and artistic direction. Raised in Buffalo, New York, she worked in film and video art before developing a practice that brings fragrance and visual expression together.

Career

Her route into perfumery began with video works about night-blooming flowers. Wanting to add scent to a gallery exhibition, she researched materials and established a small laboratory of her own. She then began blending fragrances with Ezra Woods. Launched in 2014, Régime des Fleurs developed perfume, packaging and photography as parts of a shared creative world. Her collaboration with Chloë Sevigny on Little Flower involved studying ingredients, testing formulas and refining the fragrance together over an extended period.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Nature, history and art provide recurring starting points. Raza describes seeking surprise by changing and recombining familiar perfumes and everyday smells. The aim is more than a literal botanical portrait: images, colour, texture and the object itself all contribute to the experience. Her background in moving images helps explain that interest in fragrance as something with a wider visual and sensory setting.

Representative Works

  • *Saffron Fever* — Saffron’s woody, leathery and smoky facets meet pomegranate and vanilla.
  • *Wildly Fig* — Lemon, cardamom, fig leaf and pistachio give a fig composition a vivid green character.
