About Alexandra Kosinski
Alexandra Kosinski is a perfumer whose inspirations include the natural world and the colours of paintings. With training in chemistry and a career at Givaudan and CPL Aromas, she brings scientific knowledge to the way she combines and balances fragrance materials.
Career
After a master's degree in chemistry, Kosinski trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and gained experience at Quest before its acquisition by Givaudan. Her career included fifteen years with Givaudan, followed by a move to CPL Aromas' UK division in 2018. A 2022 interview introduced her as the division's Director of Perfumery, a role that brought together scientific training and fine-fragrance creation.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Kosinski enjoys materials such as patchouli, orris concrete, osmanthus and vetiver, thinking carefully about the behaviour of ingredients when they meet in a formula. Nature supplies impressions to recreate, while paintings suggest a palette in which intensifying a particular colour can give a composition its character. In reformulation, she considers not only a replacement ingredient's smell but its evaporation rate and the balance of the surrounding structure, approaching the work as a puzzle.
