About Alain Verjus
Alain Verjus is a French perfumer who grew up in Grasse. After a long career with established fragrance companies, he founded Fragrance Contact in 2004. The independent business develops fragrances for companies of different sizes, with personal service and French production central to its stated approach.
Career
Verjus began his training at Robertet at a young age and worked there from 1969 to 1977. His subsequent career included Givaudan, PFW, Haarmann & Reimer and Synarome, giving him extensive international experience before establishing his own business. For Fragrance Contact, he assembled experienced collaborators and partners drawn from major composition houses and other parts of the fragrance industry. His official professional history provides a chronological account of this development.
Creative Style and Philosophy
He describes his childhood in Grasse as an influence on his sensitivity to smells and perfumery, rather than as an automatic route into the profession. Training and work abroad shaped that early interest into a career. Independence offered the freedom to pursue perfume creation while adding a more personal dimension to the working process. A trusted team and lasting relationships with partners form part of that philosophy, alongside attention to the requirements of each client.
