About Raisin
Raisins are dried grapes. In perfumery, a raisin note evokes the rich sweetness of dried fruit, bringing a fuller fruit character to compositions inspired by wine or desserts. The idea of dried grape provides a connection between these sweeter themes and the different materials placed around them.
Scent Profile
The central impression is a rounded, concentrated fruit sweetness. Fresh grape, white peach and pear can accompany it, allowing a composition to move between juicier fruit textures and the richer character of dried fruit. Cacao and bitter chocolate introduce a darker contrast beside that sweetness, adding another expression within the fruit-and-dessert theme. Rose petals can also bring a softer floral texture beside the cacao.
Use in Perfumery
In a dessert-wine gourmand, raisin can appear in the heart alongside the softness of rose petals. Barrel and dry wood impressions can follow, accompanied by brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Another approach uses raisin within a cookie impression, joining vanilla and butterscotch with cedar and pine notes. These combinations bring dried-fruit sweetness into contact with both dessert materials and woody textures.
