About Negroni

Negroni is a cocktail-inspired accord associated with gin, a bitter liqueur and sweet red vermouth. Perfumery combines impressions of spirits, citrus and herbs to evoke the drink’s balance of bitterness and sweetness. The name describes an olfactory idea, rather than an instruction to put the finished cocktail or its recipe ingredients into perfume.

Scent Profile

Its central contrast is **bitter citrus peel with herbal, sweeter spirits**. A drier green suggestion of juniper and the shaded herbs associated with vermouth can give the brighter fruit character greater depth. The bitterness keeps the idea away from sweetness alone, allowing a rounded drink impression to retain a sharper, more aromatic edge.

Use in Perfumery

The accord can introduce a bar-like atmosphere into compositions built around spirits, spice, tobacco and wood. Orange blossom connects citrus with flowers, while coffee or tobacco can extend its bitter character towards a warmer setting. A particular fragrance may emphasise different parts of that relationship; the balance of herbs, sweetness and bitterness varies with the perfumer’s interpretation. Negroni is therefore neither a single natural ingredient nor a name for one fixed perfume formula.
