About Latex
Latex takes the milky plant fluid associated with natural rubber as a fragrance subject, with the softer materials made from it providing a familiar tactile reference. Natural rubber latex contains tiny rubber particles and comes principally from the rubber tree, Hevea brasiliensis, giving the subject a connection to both a living plant and the supple surface of a processed material.
Scent Profile
**A supple, rubber-like texture** provides an accessible way of imagining the accord, bringing attention to an elastic surface rather than the grain of wood or the weave of cloth. Beside a harder metallic impression or drier wood, it invites a contrast between materials that seem to yield under the hand and those that feel firmer. Softer flowers offer a different comparison, placing a delicate petal-like impression beside the denser texture suggested by a smooth rubber surface.
Use in Perfumery
Within a woody composition, latex can be considered as another kind of texture around the dry outlines of the woods, allowing the arrangement to be approached through touch as well as aroma. Warmer amber and softer flowers offer ways of surrounding that supple impression, while a metallic accord provides a more pointed contrast between softness and hardness. Its interest lies in connecting scented materials with familiar tactile experiences, encouraging a closer view of how an elastic, smooth surface might sit beside the other textures suggested by a fragrance.
