About Lacquered Wood Accord
A lacquered wood accord translates the sheen of a coated surface and the depth of aged timber into fragrance. It is an olfactory construction rather than the essential oil of a particular tree. Wood can be framed by resinous, leathery or smoky impressions to suggest a smoother, more worked surface.
Scent Profile
**A drier woody core gains roundness from warmer resins**, creating a contrast between structure and polish. Leather-like and smoky facets can give that surface a darker dimension, while fruit or rum may bring a brighter, sweeter gleam around it. These different directions affect whether the wood feels warmer, denser or more sharply outlined.
Use in Perfumery
The accord can evoke polished furniture or the shadowed atmosphere of a wood-panelled room. Patchouli, styrax and labdanum support earthier and resinous depth; rose and spices add more vivid details within the wood. Another interpretation may emphasise smoke or leather instead. Lacquer therefore provides a shared visual and tactile idea for several possible fragrance constructions, without prescribing one formula or a single set of proportions. Surrounding ingredients determine which aspects become most prominent.
