About Jin Xuan Tea

Jin Xuan is a Taiwanese tea cultivar also registered as Tai Cha No. 12. When made into oolong, it can show a gentle floral character and a buttery or milky nuance that belongs to the tea itself. This makes it an appealing subject for a composition that retains freshness while introducing a softer texture.

Scent Profile

Delicate flowers meet a smooth, butter-like quality and a mild vegetal impression. The effect differs from the overt sweetness of vanilla or a dense cream accord: the tea can remain clear and gently green beneath its rounded surface. Processing and roasting change the balance, so the milky facet may be subtle, sitting alongside flowers and leaf rather than overwhelming the entire aromatic picture.

Use in Perfumery

Jin Xuan can soften the bitter-green side of tea fragrances and lend quiet richness to floral compositions. Jasmine or gardenia carries its smooth floral aspect further, while matcha or mate introduces a deeper leafy counterpoint to the milk-like texture. Musk and sandalwood offer a supple foundation; a restrained touch of tonka can bring warmth while leaving enough space for the tea's fresh, delicate character to remain recognisable.
