Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants, but a chlorophyll accord in perfumery describes a constructed impression of living leaves and stems. The name does not mean that a scented extract has been obtained from the pigment itself. The materials used to build the effect can vary from one composition to another.

Scent Profile

The impression is fresh, leafy and slightly moist, as though young greenery has just been disturbed. It differs from a straightforward blast of mint or citrus: those can sharpen the opening, while the accord gives the surrounding freshness a more plant-like texture. Grass and woody notes can extend that texture into a deeper landscape, suggesting shaded leaves as well as bright ones.

Use in Perfumery

With citrus, aromatic herbs or mint, a chlorophyll accord can add the feeling of live foliage to the opening of a perfume. Flowers and grassy materials can carry the green impression into the heart, while driftwood or other woods can ground it later. This is a descriptive accord rather than a single disclosed formula, so its exact ingredients, concentration and phase cannot be inferred from the label alone. Its practical role is to make freshness feel botanical and textured, connecting bright notes to a broader image of vegetation.
