About Burma Oud

Burma Oud is an agarwood note carrying the historical geographic label Burma, corresponding to present-day Myanmar. THoO uses the name officially in several compositions. Because agarwood can come from multiple taxa and commercial terms are difficult to trace, the geographic label alone does not identify a species, cultivation status, grade, or extraction method.

Scent Profile

It is used to suggest a deep warm wood with resin, smoke, earth, leather, and sometimes a rounded sweetness. The actual odor range of oud is wide and depends on the source material and composition. A Burma Oud note may therefore appear polished and balsamic in one fragrance and drier, darker, or more animalic in another.

Use in Perfumery

The note provides a persistent base and a dark counterweight to almond, vanilla, balsams, spice, suede, musk, or vetiver. In Almond Harmony it deepens a luminous floral-gourmand structure; in Golden Powder and Wind Heat it anchors spice and woods. Its catalog entry should preserve the brand’s label while keeping provenance and species explicitly undisclosed. A note name records an intended olfactory effect; it does not necessarily declare that one raw material appears unchanged in the formula. The exact balance remains formula-specific, and perceived sweetness, greenness, diffusion, and persistence can change with dosage and surrounding materials. Unless the supplier or brand publishes the information, no botanical species, extraction route, chemical structure, or manufacturing process should be inferred from the name.
