Fragrance Overview and First Impression

Balenciaga's Twenty Four Seven is a Parfum in the ten fragrance collection announced in 2025. Vanilla absolute is at its center, with amber and musks giving its sweetness warmth and weight. The house calls its scent character oversized amber, yet also describes a calmer, woody quality surrounding the vanilla. The two impressions meet in a fragrance that can feel both comforting and present.

Balenciaga calls it a scent for every hour and writes about stepping away from the pace of daily life. That language expresses the idea of time behind the perfume. It does not establish how many hours the fragrance lasts on skin. A useful first impression is therefore the balance between the soft vanilla and the deeper warmth around it. Try it on skin and allow that balance to settle before deciding which side is strongest.

Creator, House and Making

Cristóbal Balenciaga founded the house in 1917. Its first perfume, Le Dix, appeared in 1947. Twenty Four Seven belongs to the collection announced in 2025, while the earlier date refers to the bottle that inspired its design. The individual perfumer has not been identified in reliable public sources.

The house's archivists spent fifteen years looking for a forgotten Le Dix bottle. After rediscovering it, Balenciaga scanned its details and recreated the shape for the current collection. The result is a refillable vessel intended for use, rather than an archival object kept behind glass. Bottle production, fragrance filling and packaging take place in France.

The 100ml glass bottle has a rounded glass cap and a hand tied ribbon. Its white box with gold edging reproduces the original Le Dix design and lettering, with deliberately aged surfaces. British artist Katerina Jebb made campaign images and film for the collection using high resolution scanning. Her credit concerns the campaign artwork, not the perfume formula. The visual story extends the collection's interest in what time leaves behind.

Scent Analysis

Balenciaga lists oversized amber, vanilla absolute, and a combination of amber and musks as the key notes. It does not divide them into a timed top, middle and base pyramid. The useful distinction is sensory: sweetness from vanilla, warm depth from amber, and a smoother texture from musks.

Vanilla absolute gives the fragrance its sweet center. Balenciaga describes it as rich, set within a calm woody impression. Amber and musks give that sweetness a fuller setting. On skin, notice whether the vanilla feels light and open or whether its warmth develops greater weight.

Amber also names the fragrance's overall character. The house's oversized description suggests a strong, warm presence rather than a separate timed stage. Its combination with musks softens the edge of that warmth and helps explain how a quiet woody quality and a more forceful amber impression can coexist.

Balenciaga says the scent can show different facets with the wearer and with time. That does not specify a moment when one note gives way to another. After the first spray, follow the changing balance of vanilla sweetness, amber warmth and musk softness without expecting a fixed sequence.

Comparison and Positioning

Matière Première's Vanilla Powder Eau de Parfum offers a useful comparison because both fragrances center on vanilla absolute. Twenty Four Seven adds the warmth and presence of amber and musks. Vanilla Powder uses palo santo, coconut powder and white musk to suggest a paler, powdery texture. Choose the Balenciaga for warmer amber around vanilla, or Vanilla Powder when that drier white texture is the attraction.

TOM FORD BEAUTY's Tobacco Vanille also includes vanilla absolute, but takes it toward tobacco leaf absolute, a whiskey barrel accord and oakwood extract. Those elements make tobacco and wood part of the choice. Twenty Four Seven stays focused on vanilla with amber and musks. Someone looking for the barrel and tobacco character has a reason to try Tobacco Vanille; someone seeking a warmer amber setting for vanilla has a reason to try Twenty Four Seven.

For another view of amber, Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Grand Soir is a relevant comparison. Both connect amber with vanilla warmth. Grand Soir lists cistus labdanum, cinnamon leaf, lavandin and benzoin, bringing resinous and spiced elements into its amber character. Twenty Four Seven puts vanilla absolute forward and supports it with amber and musks. The choice turns on whether vanilla itself or a more resinous, spiced amber holds greater appeal.

These three comparisons point toward powder, tobacco and barrel, or resin and spice. Twenty Four Seven occupies the warmer vanilla and amber space among them.

Buying Guide and Suitability

The formats confirmed in Balenciaga's product information are a refillable 100ml Parfum bottle and a 200ml refill. The refill is a format for replenishing the bottle, not a separately identified concentration. The bottle measures 141mm high, 101.5mm across and 72mm deep, dimensions more suited to a place at home than to carrying as a small travel spray.

The Japanese official listing gives the 100ml bottle a price of ¥46,090 including tax. Check the current official listing before buying, as price and availability can change. The bottle and box are a substantial part of the proposition: both carry the design history of Le Dix. The fragrance itself still deserves time on skin, especially if the balance of sweetness and amber warmth will determine the purchase.

Twenty Four Seven is a candidate for someone who wants vanilla with warm amber and a soft musk quality. Those drawn instead to powder, tobacco or resinous spice have the three comparison fragrances as distinct alternatives. A later skin impression, after the opening sweetness settles, is the most useful deciding point.

Wear, Settings and Impressions

A cool autumn day or a calm indoor setting is a reasonable place to begin with its warm vanilla and amber character. One wearer associated its lighter sweetness with an everyday white shirt. Another reported finding it wearable in hot weather, which remains an individual impression rather than an official seasonal recommendation. What matters in each setting is how much warmth and sweetness comes forward on the wearer's skin.

Some wearer descriptions find the vanilla relatively light and not overly sweet; others perceive a coconut like sweetness. Coconut is an impression reported by wearers, not one of Balenciaga's official key notes. These different responses make a skin trial useful. Notice whether the vanilla stays gentle or takes on more weight beside the amber, and whether the musks keep the fragrance close or give it a broader presence.

Balenciaga recommends spraying from about 20cm away onto pulse points such as wrists and neck. It also allows use on clothing from an appropriate distance, while warning that direct spraying on pale fabric may leave stains. For a white shirt, apply to skin first and judge the scent from there. The balance of warmth and calm gives this perfume its practical appeal, provided that its sweetness feels right at the distance at which it will be worn.
