About THE GINZA

THE GINZA is a Shiseido group skincare brand rooted in Ginza, Tokyo. Its starting point was a fashion boutique opened in 1975. It connects the sensibility of choosing clothes with the beauty of bare skin, paying attention to scent, texture and the form of its packaging.

History

The boutique presented selected fashion, art and culture from around the world. Relationships with its clients helped develop the idea that clothes and skin are both part of beauty. Taking inspiration from the feel of fine silk or cashmere against the body, the brand introduced skincare in 2002. Its first perfumes followed in 2021, offered as a parfum and an eau de parfum.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The idea that skin is something a person wears leads to an approach to skincare inspired by individually fitted haute couture. A grid design drawn from Ginza’s streets and a restrained visual style carry the boutique’s aesthetics into its later products. These choices connect the brand’s fashion origins with its approach to personal care.

Iconic Fragrances

Both perfumes take linden flowers on Namiki-dori as their theme. The 50 mL eau de parfum is presented for everyday dress, while the 20 mL parfum is intended for evenings and festive occasions. Japanese artisans make the parfum bottle through nine stages, with gently undulating glass surfaces and an iridescent finish applied to the back adding to its character.
