About Olibanum

Olibanum is a French fragrance house built around frankincense, the resin that gives it its name. Across the collection, the house pairs olibanum with materials familiar to perfumery, from rose and iris to cardamom. The idea is to let the character of each material be recognized and enjoyed.

History

Founder Gérald Ghislain established Histoires de Parfums in 2000, then launched Olibanum in 2021. Where his earlier house drew on the stories of people and particular years, the new project turned its attention to the scent of materials themselves. Frankincense, a personal favorite of Ghislain, became the thread running through the collection.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The house describes its approach through simplicity, environmental awareness and a commitment to supporting others. It says all its fragrances contain Somali olibanum extracted with supercritical CO2. This shared element also gives the perfumes a common structure: they can be worn individually or layered to create a personal combination.

Collections & Fragrances

Each fragrance is named for the material it explores. Sacra turns toward frankincense itself, while Rose and Maté offer different floral and herbal directions. The house also describes support for humanitarian and development projects as part of its work.
