About Montblanc
Montblanc began in Hamburg, Germany, in 1906, with writing instruments at the center of its identity. Its work now includes leather goods, watches, and fragrances, connecting the pleasure of carefully made objects with personal expression and travel.
History
Engineer August Eberstein and Alfred Nehemias imagined a fountain pen that could be used without carrying an inkwell. That practical ambition helped shape a house associated with writing and craftsmanship; Montblanc fragrances followed in 2001, bringing its relationship with objects and materials into another sensory form.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Writing instruments in Hamburg, leather goods in Florence, and timepieces in Switzerland illustrate the house’s ties to different European craft traditions. Its fragrance collection also draws on tactile subjects: patchouli can evoke ink, while leather compositions refer to the texture of Saffiano leather. These connections let scent suggest the world around a notebook, a pen, or a well-used travel accessory, alongside the wider range of floral and woody compositions.
Iconic Fragrances
Legend combines aromatic freshness with a composed woody character, and Explorer takes travel as its central theme. Signature offers a softer vanilla and white-musk expression. Patchouli Ink and Extreme Leather make the links to writing and leather especially clear within the material-focused collection.
