About MIYA SHINMA PARIS
MIYA SHINMA PARIS is an independent perfume house established in Paris in 1999 by Japanese perfumer Miya Shinma. Japanese plants, seasons and traditional colours meet a practice developed through French perfumery. From her Paris atelier, Shinma approaches fragrance through its presence on skin, giving space to quiet detail, emotional association and the impression that remains after the first encounter.
History
Raised in Shizuoka, Shinma studied French in Kyoto before pursuing perfume training in Europe. Early creations drew on Japanese poetry, while her background in music helped shape an understanding of composition and the relationships between materials. A redesign in 2015 developed the house’s visual identity, with clear glass and black bottles now giving different collections their own appearance.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The house connects Japanese culture and French perfume through memory and sensation, rather than reducing either tradition to a decorative motif. Restraint, precision and space between impressions are central to its approach. Ukiyo-e, incense traditions and natural surroundings provide starting points for both olfactory compositions and bottle imagery, with the balance of materials suggesting light, temperature and atmosphere.
Iconic Fragrances
Hana brings rose, ylang-ylang and iris into a reflection on the passing beauty of flowers, while Hinoki places citrus against quiet wood. Kimono Hinoki explores a richer relationship between spices and oud, and Fuwari moves toward the delicate presence of a rose imagined in ink.
