About FRA422
FRA422 is a South Korean fragrance house built around the relationship between scent and responsible sourcing. Its name joins a reference to fragrance with April 22, Earth Day. Environmental concerns form part of its creative starting point, alongside an interest in enjoying perfume with wit and individuality.
History
The house describes a seven-year period of research and development involving perfumers and designers. That work led to a framework for choosing natural materials and to alternative ways of representing scents associated with ingredients it elects not to use. The emphasis is on developing a fragrant palette within those choices.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Its own sourcing framework is called the 422 Code. For materials associated with threatened species, the house describes using sustainable botanical alternatives and fragrance reconstruction under the 422 Fragrance designation. These are the house’s own material-selection principles; the approach considers both an olfactory effect and the resources used to obtain it.
Iconic Fragrances (or Did You Know?)
Five perfumes introduce different personalities, or “souls,” through scent. WON links a vintage-loving character with leather, woods and a whiskey-like impression. EL turns toward marine freshness and citrus, while HANI combines green, citrus and musky facets. Across the collection, the imagined characters provide a way into the perfumes without requiring every scent to share the same aromatic style.
