About Acqua di Parma

Acqua di Parma began in Parma in 1916 with a desire for an Italian manner of fragrance that felt bright and natural rather than heavy or ceremonious. It now approaches perfume, grooming, travel, and the home as parts of one way of living, held together by quiet refinement.

History

Founder Carlo Magnani wore a refreshing composition on his tailored clothes, and it circulated through Parma's tailoring culture among clients seeking a less formal elegance. In the postwar years, international visitors and film figures working in Rome helped carry that sensibility beyond Italy. The house was revived in the 1990s and joined LVMH in the early 2000s, expanding its reach and categories while keeping Italian craft and the original idea of ease at the center.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Luxury is expressed through light, citrus, good tailoring, hospitality, and the confidence not to appear overworked. Fragrance, the recognizable yellow boxes, and hand-finished details are not separate decoration but one accessible experience of Italian design. Coasts, gardens, cities, and artisan traditions can supply very different subjects, yet the house brings them into a common language of luminosity, proportion, and clean contours. The result is polished without becoming stiff and relaxed without losing precision.
