Azalai
Warm blood orange and saffron over salty amber, incense and smooth musk, inspired by a Saharan caravan.
Perfumer: Olle Hemmendorff
Azalai takes its name from a caravan route across the Ténéré region of the Sahara, where camel trains carried salt and gold. Stora Skuggan centres its story on a solitary acacia tree that once served as a landmark along the route. The fragrance translates that desert setting into the warm radiance of gold. Olle Hemmendorff created the eau de parfum, released in 2022.
Blood orange provides brightness around the dry warmth of saffron. A syrup-like acacia-gum impression meets salty amber and incense, creating a contrast between sweetness and drier resinous textures. Velvione contributes a smooth, substantial musk. Mint and dried fruit offer smaller details recalling the tea and food of the caravan riders rather than turning the fragrance into a purely fresh citrus composition.
An acacia illustration marks the clear rectangular 30mL bottle, under a sphere patterned in gold, red and black. Cooler evenings provide a welcoming setting for the meeting of citrus radiance and resinous warmth. It is a fragrance to enjoy for the textures of amber and musk as much as for its brighter orange facet.
