Calone®, the molecule behind 1990s aquatics, recast with fluorescent greens and Somalian incense.
Perfumer: Nathalie Feisthauer
fluo_ral places Calone, a material closely associated with the aquatics of the 1990s, in a setting of vividly green plants and darker incense.
Perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer heightens its transparency by backlighting it with green notes so bright they border on fluorescent. Rhubarb, blackcurrant bud and tomato leaf bring a sharp, vegetal tang, which the brand links to a moonlit seaside jungle and the glow of bioluminescent plankton.
Pink pepper and rose add a spark and a soft floral line, while Somalian incense provides an ink-dark depth. Its cool, metallic facets echo the saline side of Calone®, and cedarwood gives the composition a dry structure.
The result plays on strong contrasts of light and dark, smooth and textured. In that setting, a molecule once tied to clean, limpid freshness reads as something new: marine, but not in the way the 1990s defined it.
