Arashi No Umi

Created by Bérénice Watteau for Maison Matine in 2023, Arashi No Umi is an eau de parfum that combines green apple and peach with flowers, woods and musk. The freshness of apple and the softer sweetness of peach provide a familiar starting point for a fragrance that also gives plenty of space to flowers.

About This Fragrance

Arashi No Umi links an imagined journey to Japan with the legendary island of Atlantis and the fabled land of gold known as Zipangu. Its bottle illustration, by Kyoko Nakamura, includes game machines and fishing equipment that recall childhood. A distant country imagined from France meets the familiar objects of a Japanese illustrator's drawing. The fragrance belongs to Maison Matine's collection about travel and imagination, with the scent and artwork each contributing to that idea.

Scent Profile

The top notes are green apple, freesia and peach. Jasmine, Damask rose and ylang-ylang form the heart, followed by Virginia cedar, Firsantol and musk. Firsantol is a material with a sandalwood-like character, offering a way to imagine the softly sweet woods that follow the brighter fruit and flowers.

Who It's For & When to Wear It

Spring and summer daytime walks or relaxed outings are inviting occasions to try it. Follow the fruit through to the later flowers and woods to assess how the whole fragrance fits your taste. Some wearers report restrained projection or shorter wear on skin, so someone seeking a strong scent throughout the day should also assess its staying power.
