The story behind this cologne leaves the English countryside behind. It leads to southwest Asia and the oriental poppy, a flower the house calls a potent symbol of love. These are giants of their kind, with blooms around eight inches wide held up on stems roughly a metre tall.
Ambrette opens the composition, an unusual choice because its soft, powdery, enveloping quality rarely appears in top notes. At the heart sits a floral accord built to suggest bold poppy blooms, enriched with velvety iris. Tonka bean forms the base, adding warmth with hints of almond, vanilla and tobacco.
The powdery opening gives way to a fuller floral heart. The sweet warmth of tonka is what lingers.
