Frosted Moon
Cool, silvery iris over warm roots, seeds and cedar bark: moonlight with its feet on the ground.
Frosted Moon is a study in contrast. Iris gives it a cool, silvery glow, while angelica seed, cedar bark and vetiver keep it soft, warm and close to the earth. Galbanum adds a sharp green edge, so the softness never blurs.
The pyramid reads almost like a list of roots and seeds: angelica root and seed at the top; carrot seed, iris root and ambrette seed at the heart; galbanum root, vetiver root, cedarwood bark and musks below.
That earthbound material is what makes the moonlit iris feel paradoxical. It was a finalist for the 2014 Fragrance Foundation Award.
