About Shadi Samra
Shadi Samra is a perfumer with deep expertise in Middle Eastern fragrance markets, known for his work with Fragrance Du Bois and his mastery of oud and oriental ingredients.
Career
With a long career in the fragrance industry, Samra has served on the board of directors of the Fragrance Foundation Arabia and served as a Fragrance Oscars judge for eight years. He possesses extensive knowledge of the GCC market and experience with oud, oud oil, and oriental fragrances.
Creative Style & Philosophy
A lover of natural ingredients, Samra advocates for their value and supports sustainability in their production. He sees a strong connection between fragrance and memory. When composing, he seeks to give an emotion a fragrant form, so that encountering the scent again can recall a meaningful experience. His interest therefore extends beyond the smell of an isolated material to the emotional character of the finished perfume.
His experience of Gulf fragrance culture gives context to this approach, especially its appreciation of oud, richness and a memorable scent trail.
