Satori Osawa is an independent Tokyo perfumer who translates Japanese views of nature, season, and spatial interval into contemporary fragrance. A plant is not placed as a conspicuous symbol but understood in time through bud, leaf, humidity, vessel, and lingering trace.
Career
Born in Tokyo, she carried a pocket flower guide as a child and began studying Sogetsu-school flower arrangement and Urasenke tea ceremony at twelve. She started learning perfumery around 1988 and studied in Japan under Kenji Maruyama in 1998. Her Tokyo atelier opened in 2000 and supports an independent collection, corporate scent work, and teaching. In 2019, one of her works and its tea vessel entered the International Perfume Museum in Grasse.
