About Sakul Pawasuttikul

Sakul Pawasuttikul is a Thai perfumer and one of three co-founders of Perfumers' Journey. Her work turns specific places, harvests and rituals into intimate, story-led compositions.

Career

She studied perfumery in Thailand and now creates scents for the house, whose collection grows out of memories of travel. In 2025 the Asia Perfume Foundation honored her with its Emerging Perfumer Award for *TINI tini*, and in 2026 *Lamphun Gold* received an Honorable Mention at the Art and Olfaction Awards.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Sakul often begins with a specific scene. Speaking to Vogue Thailand, she traced *Cuzco* to an Inca ritual room in Peru, where smoke from palo santo, a fragrant South American wood, drifted over dried rose petals. She also named the rain-soaked Hala-Bala forest of southern Thailand, with its damp earth, moss and ferns, as a place she hopes to capture in scent next.

Signature Works

  • *TINI tini* — juicy lychee set against the crisp, airy brightness of dry vermouth, with anise, rock rose and musk.
  • *Lamphun Gold* — notes of dried longan and wild honey, inspired by Lamphun farmers who smoke whole longans, seeds and all, to preserve their sweetness.
  • *Cuzco* — dried rose, palo santo and oud, recalling her journey to the ancient Peruvian city.
