About Pissara Umavijani
Pissara Umavijani is a self-taught perfumer from Bangkok and the founder of Parfums Dusita. Her work begins with personal memories and the poetry of her father, Montri Umavijani.
Career
Raised in a home and garden filled with art, Pissara became fascinated with French perfume as a child. In Thailand she collected vintage fragrances and began studying materials and fragrance structures with a friend. She moved to Paris in 2011 and continued learning independently before founding Dusita in 2016. As a student, she spent her spare time blending scents and exploring the city. In 2018, the house found a permanent home in a Paris boutique.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Her father’s poems provide moods and images for her fragrances. In interviews, she has described the freedom to create scents that reflect her own taste, rather than conforming to outside expectations. For her, both poetry and perfume can connect people through imagination and emotion. The garden of her childhood and her father’s accounts of his travels helped awaken the curiosity that continues to inform her work.
