About Nanako Ogi
Nanako Ogi grew up surrounded by rice fields and forests in Japan, where her curiosity about natural scents eventually led her to perfumery. After studying anthropology at university, a friend's suggestion prompted her to pursue a career in fragrance, taking her to the United States and later to Givaudan Perfumery School. Her collaborations with Fragrance Du Bois give this interest in translating emotion into scent a public form.
Career
While studying anthropology, Ogi's constant talk about scents caught a friend's attention, who suggested she become a perfumer. Six months later, she left for the United States, where she earned a chemistry degree and gained ten years of industry experience before being admitted to Givaudan Perfumery School. She began working as a perfumer in Dubai in 2017 and later relocated to Singapore.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Ogi translates moments that stir her emotions into fragrance. In Secret Tryst, she brings out the floral and spicy facets she finds in cistus with rose, jasmine, cardamom and saffron. Bergamot suggests the fresh Andalusian sky above the landscape where cistus grows.
Signature Works
- *Sirène* — A fruity gourmand that opens with cherry and pink pepper, evolving into a smoky heart of oud and incense, embodying empowerment and magnetic confidence.
- *Secret Tryst* — A spicy woody fragrance where bergamot and cardamom lead into a sensual blend of jasmine, saffron, and cedarwood, capturing the thrill of a clandestine encounter.
