Mirella Pomina
A LUZI Principal Perfumer connecting plants, memory and emotional texture.
About Mirella Pomina
Mirella Pomina is a Principal Perfumer at LUZI in Switzerland. Flowers in a garden, crushed leaves and dried herbs form part of her early olfactory memory. Plants and travel continue to offer starting points, which she develops into fragrances concerned with emotional texture and the relationships between materials.
Career
After working with a small Swiss cosmetics manufacturer, she began her perfumery training at LUZI. Her career developed within the company’s creative team. As a Junior Perfumer in 2004, she composed a soap fragrance that became a lasting success in West Africa. Her fine-fragrance work reaches Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and she was subsequently promoted to Principal Perfumer.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Pomina considers creation through art, chemistry and storytelling together. Mood boards of colours, images and words help her connect a creative intention with a more specific arrangement of materials. She is interested in contrasts between textures and emotions, from cooler, powder-like iris to warmer labdanum. Those relationships let a fragrance carry more than one emotional character while remaining a coherent composition.
