About Marc Daniel Heimgartner

Marc Daniel Heimgartner is a Principal Perfumer at LUZI. His work connects experience in food and aroma-chemical analysis with an interest in nature and the arts. Collaborations with Middle Eastern houses developed his relationship with oud and incense, while other projects explore the softer textures of flowers and fruit. Those different subjects reflect a practice shaped by both analysis and sensory curiosity.

Career

He grew up in Berne, where the smell of rain on the ground and the leaves, stems and petals of the city’s rose garden became early scent memories. He began as a perfumer trainee at LUZI in 1996. The company identifies the 2004 releases Excellent Man and Excellent Woman for Al Haramain as a breakthrough in the Middle Eastern market, and announced his promotion to Principal Perfumer in 2025.

Creative Style & Philosophy

He considers natural materials, modern aroma molecules and composed accords as complementary elements: complexity, clarity and the relationship between ingredients each have a role. In Reverie Haze, the changing textures of tuberose, from greener stems to waxy buds and creamier flowers, became a central subject. Interests in design, modern architecture, jazz, travel and food also provide ways to think about material texture and the atmosphere of a fragrance.
