Laura Bosetti Tonatto is an Italian perfumer who works between wearable fragrance, cultural research, and art. Alongside bespoke and brand projects, she has translated paintings and historical texts into olfactory experiences.
Career
A professional perfumer since 1986, she studied materials and composition in Cairo and Grasse. From 2006 she taught perfume art, production, and aromachology in the cosmetic science and technology program at the University of Ferrara. She has curated olfactory components for exhibitions at institutions including the State Hermitage Museum and Rome's National Museum of Oriental Art, and has reconstructed scents described in historical sources.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Color and light in a painting are not converted into notes one by one. She researches period, space, material, and the viewer's emotion, then rebuilds their relation in scent. The perfumer is both artist and technician, with imagination supported by raw-material knowledge and precise measurement.
