About Joschka Klee
Joschka Klee is the self-taught perfumer and founder of VAPORMUNDUM, an independent fragrance house in Germany. His practice treats perfume as an artistic medium for expressing memories, places, music, emotions and imagined worlds. Each composition begins with a particular idea rather than with a requirement to repeat one house scent.
Career
He works independently, choosing materials from different suppliers to build a palette suited to each creation. VAPORMUNDUM describes its process as handcrafted in Germany, connecting formulation, maturation and filling with the original concept. In 2026 he contributed two perfumes to La Nuit parfum, applying his approach to classical music and the narratives associated with the works.
Creative Style and Philosophy
Creating his own accords is central to the practice. These smaller compositions function inside a perfume, but VAPORMUNDUM also offers corresponding accords separately, allowing the wearer to layer them with the main fragrance and alter its emphasis. The approach gives an individual composition more than one possible interpretation. For the La Nuit collaboration, musical narrative and changes in emotion became structures experienced through the development of scent over time.
Signature Works
- *Verklärte Nacht*: announced by La Nuit parfum in 2026, moving from a cool forest atmosphere through flowers into a warmer trail.
