Elise Bénat
A dsm-firmenich perfumer shaped by southern French coast and vegetation, treating scent like an image and placing surprise inside delicacy.
About Elise Bénat
Elise Bénat is a dsm-firmenich perfumer who turns memories of Mediterranean light and vegetation into visual scent. She grew up in southern France among sea salt, scrubland, and myrtle, an atmosphere that continues to inform her sense of space.
Career
While studying chemistry, Bénat encountered olfactory training for the first time and was struck by the possibility of composing with odor as material. She committed herself to perfumery and joined the Firmenich team. Landscapes and cultures encountered during travel are joined to the raw-material knowledge of a research-driven fragrance house.
Creative Style & Philosophy
She compares fragrance to photography, selecting a point of light or an unexpected color rather than explaining an entire landscape. Transparent florals, salt air, green leaves, and soft woods are layered delicately, then sharpened by a material that shifts expectation. The resulting lightness retains a clear emotional focus.
Signature Works
