About Dominique Preyssas

Dominique Preyssas directs perfumery in France at CPL Aromas. Trained as a chemist, he brings formulation expertise and an appreciation of olfactory beauty to fragrances developed around the identity and emotional character of each client brand.

Career

After studying chemistry, he trained at ISIPCA and the Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school in Grasse. He worked at several major fragrance houses before joining CPL Aromas in 2003. Decades of practical experience support his work with international clients and his continuing interest in new materials and approaches to composition.

Creative Style and Philosophy

Preyssas describes enjoying both the scientific challenge of finding appropriate materials within a budget and the aesthetic pleasure of the finished scent. Modern amber materials are a particular interest, including ingredients capable of giving dry woods substantial presence. He values listening to feedback while explaining the intention behind a proposal, treating collaboration as a way to bring the brand's aspirations and the fragrance closer together.

Signature Works

  • *Bois Sacré (élixir privé)* — A woody amber composition connecting myrrh and honey with iris, patchouli, cedar, tobacco, and cocoa. Its powdery softness meets sweetness and darker woody textures.
  • *Black Animal (élixir privé)* — Mint and violet are combined with caramel, cardamom, cedar, benzoin, and patchouli. Coolness and sweetness lead into the depth of aromatic woods.
