Daiki Yamane
Japanese perfumer and Liberta Perfume founder, exploring individual preferences and local materials.
About Daiki Yamane
Daiki Yamane is a Japanese perfumer and the founder of Liberta Perfume. He creates fragrances for his own house as well as for companies and other brands. His work connects two practices: responding to individual fragrance preferences and exploring aromatic materials through direct contact with Japanese places and producers.
Career
He began studying perfumery while working at an international consulting firm. Training with Satori Osawa introduced him to fragrance formulation and to the practical work of a perfume brand. He established Liberta Perfume in 2020 and developed a shop and production laboratory in Nakameguro, Tokyo. He has also completed the Art of Perfumery programme at ISIPCA in France and participates in fragrance education.
Creative Style and Philosophy
His approach brings formulation and the process of making fragrance available to people into the same practice. Through Japan Material, he explores substances such as bamboo sap and plum wine, working with producers and considering new uses for local materials. The aromatic starting point becomes part of a composition that develops over time, rather than simply reproducing an isolated ingredient. Attention to individual preferences sits alongside this exploration of place and material.
Signature Works
- *Itsukitake*: a green woody fragrance connecting the faint sweetness of bamboo sap with leaves, dry wood and a smoky shade.
- *Matsurimatsu*: a forest composition centred on red pine, with matsutake, lavender and moss contributing contrasting aromatic facets.
