About Claire Liégent

Claire Liégent is a French perfumer raised in the Champagne region and working at Takasago. Familiarity with food and wine gives her a particular interest in unexpected combinations, translating sensory experiences into compositions for different fragrance houses.

Career

Growing up around her father's restaurant, she encountered the aromas of cooking and wine as part of everyday life. An interest in oenology led her towards perfume, and she studied at ISIPCA before training at IFF under Dominique Ropion. Her later work includes compositions for Première Peau and Alendor, bringing those brands' individual ideas into an olfactory form.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Nature and unusual combinations found in cuisine provide recurring points of departure for her work. She values a balance between intuition, a willingness to take risks and a thorough understanding of formulation, bringing those elements together when she develops a fragrance. Some of her compositions reconsider familiar material associations: leather becomes softer and more intimate, while rose can take on colder mineral and metallic contours rather than a conventionally romantic character.

Signature Works

  • *Simili Mirage* for Première Peau brings synthetic leather together with ambrette, immortelle and a marine impression, moving between skin-like warmth and drier mineral details.
  • *Rose Monotone* for Première Peau gives rose a cooler expression through icy fruit, metallic hues and mineral facets, exploring a more restrained floral character.
