About Ane Ayo

Ane Ayo is a perfumer raised beside the sea in Bilbao, Spain. She later studied in the United Kingdom, spent time in Germany, and built her career in France. Exposure to several European cultures and languages taught her to draw from varied references rather than a single local tradition. Her official profile also recalls an early perfume-organ game given by her father, which helped turn childhood curiosity about smell into a lasting creative interest.

Career

Ayo first studied pharmacy, gaining a grounding in materials and chemistry. A newspaper article about perfumer Alberto Morillas then showed her that fragrance could become a profession. She completed an MBA in perfume and fashion management and trained at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. She now works in fine fragrance at dsm-firmenich, developing compositions that connect a brand brief with the character and technical possibilities of individual materials.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Painting, fashion, dance, fabrics, and color give Ayo visual and tactile starting points for scent. She also develops personal themed collections, using a shared idea to examine how materials can reveal different facets. Travel remains central: official profiles identify Japan, Menorca, and Parisian museums and bookstores as recurring sources of inspiration. She describes perfumery as a profession built on trust and sharing, combining disciplined material work with an effort to create fragrances that feel personal, generous, and open to the wearer's own memories.
