Amandine Clerc-Marie is a Paris-based principal perfumer at dsm-firmenich. Highly visual, she translates movement, color, and shape into olfactory volume, approaching fragrance as a form of invisible architecture.
Career
She grew up familiar with the fragrance world through her mother's work in the industry and trained at ISIPCA. Her thesis led to a meeting with Michel Almairac, with whom she worked for more than a decade before joining Firmenich in 2011. She was appointed principal perfumer in 2024.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Clerc-Marie loves the entire process from searching for an idea and sketching its outline to seeing the formula manufactured. Like architecture, a composition needs sound foundations before it can build emotion. Travel keeps her visual vocabulary in motion, while collaboration lets her learn continuously from others. Measured construction and spontaneous feeling remain equally important in her work.
