About Alexandra Kalle

Alexandra Kalle is a German perfumer and fragrance developer whose work connects the character of materials with the experience of wearing a scent. At Mäurer & Wirtz she has worked on fragrance development and evaluation, bringing traditional cologne into newer creative settings while considering the relationship between composition and the finished product.

Career

Her path began in marketing, with experience in companies working across drinks, cosmetics and fashion. An olfactory test during a job interview at a fragrance company revealed her talent for scent. She subsequently trained with perfumers at Firmenich for approximately two and a half years. At Mäurer & Wirtz, her work has included developing ideas with marketing teams and connecting fragrance evaluation with product development.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Kalle values the quieter concentration needed to evaluate a fragrance. Nature, photography, exhibitions and music can provide starting points, while contrasts between fruit, spices, flowers and herbs give the composition different textures. Her interest in both natural and synthetic materials allows their individual characteristics to contribute to a more varied expression, balancing brighter aromatic detail with softer impressions.

Signature Works

  • **Signature Eau Fraîche — Otto Kern**: Blood orange and rhubarb meet aromatic lavender, flowers and warmer woods in a fresher expression of the line.
  • **Remix Cologne Anniversary Edition — 4711**: Co-created with Vincent Schaller, the anniversary edition connects the citrus and herbs of traditional cologne with softer floral textures.
