About Multiflora Rose
Multiflora rose, Rosa multiflora, is a species in the rose family, native to East Asia including Japan. In fragrance descriptions, it evokes the small flowers of a wild rose. Its modest flower form offers a different inspiration from the large blooms of cultivated roses.
Scent Profile
It suggests a fresh floral impression with a simple green character. In a composition it can appear light alongside other flowers or herbs, or quieter and deeper when surrounded by woods and resins. The living flower and its interpretation in a perfume need not smell identical.
Use in Perfumery
OSAJI uses the note as a shared center for its Wild Rose collection. Combinations with violet and jasmine, woody notes, or ylang-ylang and frankincense produce distinct rose profiles. Where a product explicitly lists an essential oil, that extraction detail belongs to the information for that particular perfume.
Did You Know?
Wild rose is a broad common name that can refer to more than one species. Naming Rosa multiflora preserves its distinction from damask rose and rugosa rose. A general rose label alone cannot establish the botanical identity or extraction method of a fragrance ingredient.
