About Linalool

Linalool is an aroma ingredient found in the essential oils of many plants. Lavender, rosewood, ho wood and kuromoji are among the aromatic materials associated with it. Perfumery uses both material obtained from natural sources and material produced synthetically; the ingredient name itself does not specify which route was used.

Scent Profile

Its character is fresh and softly floral, with herbal and woody facets and a faint citrus brightness. Rather than suggesting a dense bouquet or a sugary flower, it brings a more open, airy impression. That combination of petals and green plant freshness makes it useful wherever a floral effect needs a natural, unforced outline.

Kuromoji oil was once exported from Japan as a source of natural linalool. The history connects an aromatic Japanese woodland shrub with the international supply of fragrance ingredients.
