What Is Irotyl?

Irotyl is an aroma material produced by Kao Chemicals, registered under CAS number 2983-37-1. It is designed for floral and fruity compositions, and its role is less to anchor a blend than to shape how it opens.

Scent Profile

Kao describes it as an orris-like note with fruity, herbal and fresh nuances. Combined with ionone materials, it is said to bring a natural iron-like facet, and it gives a dewy quality to the top of floral or fruity accords. The result is the powdery elegance of iris made lighter and more luminous.

Use in Perfumery

In ÆTHER's XTRÆM, Irotyl is combined with Hedione, Globalide, Exaltolide and Ambroxan. Hedione adds a transparent, airy jasmine tone, Globalide and Exaltolide supply clean musk, and Ambroxan lends an ambery woody warmth. Over that base, Irotyl draws a fresh orris-like outline, keeping the blend bright rather than heavy.
