About Havanawood

Havanawood is a natural specialty from the French fragrance house MANE. Rather than blending two finished oils, it is made by co-distillation: cedarwood essential oil is introduced while hay is being distilled, so the two natural raw materials pass through the still together and emerge as a single extract. It is not a synthetic single molecule.

Scent Profile

The result reads as one material rather than two. Dry cedar sets the frame, while hay brings a soft, herbaceous sweetness that leans slightly gourmand. Between them sits a **dry tobacco-leaf** impression — warm, earthy and a little rustic — finished with an elegant, powdery touch reminiscent of orris.

Use in Perfumery

Its bold character places it naturally in the woody palette, where it tends to show in the heart and base and carries into the drydown. It can lend a cured-leaf warmth to woody, amber and tobacco-themed compositions. Next to sweeter materials, it gives the impression of a dry, fibrous counterpoint that keeps a blend from turning syrupy.

Did You Know?

The tobacco-leaf impression arises from co-distilling hay and cedarwood, a process distinct from mixing two finished fragrant oils.
