About Green Cognac

Green Cognac is a perfumery note associated with the aroma of fermented grapes. Essential oils sold under this name can be distilled from dried fermented grape tissue. The note does not imply that the drink itself has simply been poured into a perfume.

Scent Profile

A wine-like aroma meets tart fruit impressions reminiscent of apple or pear. Drier grass and greener herbs provide definition around the fruit. Instead of expressing alcohol through heavy sweetness alone, the character moves between fruit, fermentation and herbal dryness. Citrus and flowers around it influence how bright or rich it appears within a composition.

Use in Perfumery

With citrus, it can connect fruit acidity to brighter peel. Rose and jasmine bring floral fullness beside the wine-like theme. Tobacco and amber can lead towards drier leaves and warmth. Kilesa places green cognac in the heart of Hangover alongside white cognac, red wine, rose and jasmine, presenting several related but distinct aromatic subjects.

Differences in Distilled Materials

Hermitage Oils describes its green cognac essential oil as produced in a traditional copper still. Its white cognac material is produced in stainless steel. Copper and stainless-steel stills provide different routes to related aromatic materials. Their greener and rounder sensory profiles offer different possibilities beside fruit, flowers and resins.
