About Eau de Brouts
Eau de Brouts refers to a perfumery material associated with the aromatic water obtained when bitter-orange leaves and young twigs are distilled. The same process produces petitgrain essential oil, but Eau de Brouts concerns the aroma carried into the water. Extracts obtained by recovering aromatic components from that water are also used in perfumery.
Scent Profile
The extract has a bitter, leafy green character with herbal undertones. A watery impression can be accompanied by faint spicy or smoky facets. Its character is closer to leaves and young twigs than to the sweet-tart juice of an orange.
Use in Perfumery
Eau de Brouts brings natural leafy greenness to citrus and white-floral compositions. Alongside orange blossom or neroli, it can add the freshness of branches and leaves to floral sweetness. Rich jasmine, ylang-ylang and gardenia compositions can also benefit from its green accent.
