About Codistillation Basil & Petitgrain essences

Codistillation Basil & Petitgrain essences is a natural fragrance material obtained by the simultaneous steam distillation of basil leaves and petitgrain (leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree). This codistillation creates a harmonious and complex scent that cannot be achieved by distilling each separately. It is notably used in Acqua di Parma's 'Buongiorno'.

Scent Profile

The top note is dominated by the fresh, green, herbal character of basil, quickly followed by the bright, slightly woody citrus nuances of petitgrain. Overall, it imparts a refreshing, aromatic, and subtly spicy impression.

Use in Perfumery

This essence is used to add brightness and a natural greenness to citrus and aromatic fragrances. It smooths the transition from top to middle notes and blends well with other herbal and citrus notes.
